STX Engine Targets Global Competitiveness with Expanded K-Engine Exports
/STX Engine will showcase its full lineup of domestically developed defense-grade SMV engines and next-generation power solutions at the Seoul International Aerospace & Defense Exhibition (ADEX) 2025, held at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province, from October 20 to 24.
At this year’s exhibition, the company plans to highlight its entire SMV engine series—used in mobility and firepower platforms such as tanks, self-propelled howitzers, and armored vehicles—while presenting an export strategy for “K-Engines” built on indigenous technologies and a global cooperation network.
On display will be the 1,000-horsepower SMV1000 engine used in the K9 Self-Propelled Howitzer and Redback Infantry Fighting Vehicle, as well as the SMV350/520/750 series for tracked and wheeled armored platforms, and the V1360 engine for main battle tanks. The SMV750, SMV520, and SMV350 engines, unveiled for the first time at this exhibition, are attracting attention as new domestic powerplants for next-generation tracked and wheeled armored systems.
STX Engine will also exhibit the V199 engine developed in partnership with Rolls-Royce Solutions, leveraging a longstanding collaboration to enhance export prospects by combining Korean engine technology with global expertise.
Beyond engines, the company is presenting hybrid systems, military-grade lithium-ion batteries, coastal surveillance radar, and TASS (Towed Array Sonar System) as part of its next-generation power and surveillance portfolio. The military lithium-ion batteries under development are designed for lightweight, high-efficiency performance to provide stable power in battlefield environments. The Coastal Surveillance Radar-II—scheduled for deployment in 2026—offers approximately 1.5 times the detection range and target identification performance of existing systems.
“It is truly meaningful to present our entire engine lineup and future power solutions in one place at this year’s exhibition,” said Lee Sang-soo, CEO of STX Engine. “We will strengthen the global competitiveness of our engine technologies with a focus on K-Engine exports and expand further into the powerpack business.”
